How it Relates to the GovernmentPoverty plays a big role and relates to the government, because many people in poverty have dealt with a lack of education, experienced problems with employment as well as problems with money. The government has been working to fix the problem of income inequality and poverty. There are public assistance programs, economic develop programs that the government has place to do so. There are low-income people struggling to pay for the things that they need, in order to provide for themselves and their families. There are government regulations, causing homelessness, by bringing up the costs of houses. There are areas in which these low-income people are confine in, due to government prohibitions. Therefore, there are certain organizations and stores that aim to provide the less fortunate with the items that they cannot afford or do not own.

IssuesPoverty is a national and a global issue. Statistics show that around half of the world’s population, which is over 3 billion people, live on less than two dollars a day, and over 1 billion people live in extreme poverty, which is less than a dollar everyday . Issues are occurring and they continue to be present today. Around 1 billion children today are living in poverty. Studies show that there are 22,000 children that die each day because of poverty. Millions of people die each day due to the lack of food, shelter, and other necessities. Many of these people are living without electricity, proper clothing, treatment/healthcare, and other items that many people today are known to have.
